A Simplified Design of Multidimensional Transfer Function Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
Multidimensional transfer functions are an effective description of physical systems with time and space as independent variables. They allow to construct discrete models which are suitable for computer implementation. The derivation of multidimensional transfer functions is straightforward for systems with self-adjoint spatial operators. It is based on the application of suitable functional transformations for the time and space variables. For the more general case of non self-adjoint operators the derivation is more involved. Here two different types of eigenvalue problems have to be considered, which lead to a suitable spatial transformation and its inverse. In this contribution, the relations between these two eigenvalue problems are explored. By deriving some principal properties, a simplified design procedure for the resulting multidimensional transfer function models is given.

متن کاملHeuristic Process Model Simplification in Frequency Response Domain
Frequency response diagrams of a system include detailed and recognizable information about the structural and parameter effects of the transfer function model of the system. The information are qualitatively and quantitatively obtainable from simultaneous consideration of amplitude ratio and phase information. In this paper, some rules and relationships are presented for making use of frequenc...
متن کاملStress Transfer Modeling in CNT Reinforced Composites using Continuum Mechanics (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Because of the substantial difference in stiffness between matrix and nanotube in CNT composite, the stress transfer between them controls their mechanical properties. This paper investigates the said issue, analytically and numerically, in axial load using representative volume element (RVE). The analytical model was established based on the modified Cox’s shear lag model with the use of some ...

Transfer functions models of linear systems are a well established tool for the design and analysis of one-dimensional systems. This is not the case for multidimensional physical systems, given in terms of initial boundary value problems. Here, the only mathematical description of widespread use are partial di erential equations. This contribution shows, how the one-dimensional transfer functio...
متن کاملTransfer Function Models for Multidimensional Systems
Multidimensional systems describe relations between signals depending on two or more independent variables, like time and space. They are also called distributed parameter systems. The only conventional model for their description are partial diierential equations. This is in contrast to onedimensional (lumped parameter) systems, where a variety of diierent models including transfer functions i...
